NIE WIEDER IST JETZT
Website, Interactive, Motion
At the beginning of 2024, Germany saw mass protests against the far right after revelations that members of the far-right party AfD and extremists had attended a secret meeting discussing mass deportations. This, along with growing concerns about the normalization of far-right politics, mobilized hundreds of thousands across the country to defend democracy and human rights.

This website visualizes the overwhelming unity of people standing against the far right. Scattered letters emerging from all directions represent individuals from diverse backgrounds, political views, and identities coming together in solidarity. As they merge, they form a powerful statement, emphasizing the sheer number of those who oppose right-wing extremism and aiming to inspire hope.
NIE WIEDER IST JETZT (Never again is now), the name of the website was a central slogan during the mass protests against the far right in early 2024. Originally rooted in Holocaust remembrance, „Never again“ represents the commitment to preventing the return of fascism and Nazism. The protests reinterpreted this historical warning for the present, emphasizing that resisting far-right extremism is an urgent, ongoing responsibility.

The Droulers Clarendon typeface was chosen for this project because of its strong connection to historical resistance movements. Its resemblance to typewritten text evokes the look of revolutionary pamphlets, like those of the White Rose, a student resistance group against the Nazi regime. During times of censorship, typewriters were essential for spreading underground messages—they ensured anonymity, allowed for easy reproduction, and lent documents an official, credible appearance. By using this typeface, the project aligns itself with this tradition of resistance, emphasizing the urgency of standing against the far right today.
